The implementation of the casting process begins with the drawings of the casting, a pattern and casting moulds, based on the engineering drawing of the finished product.
Then, we proceed to the preparation of patterns, moulds and cores. The finished moulds are assembled and prepared for pouring. Liquid metal is melted in electric arc furnaces, and then it is poured into the mould. Once it sets, the casting is extracted from the mould, the gating is removed and the whole is cleaned. Next, the cast can be heat treated and cleaned again. After inspection, castings are sent to contractors. Of course, it is a very schematic depiction of the engineering process. Here are some details.
